The Sherilyn White Trust

Sherilyn White attended St Cuthbert’s College, Market Rd Epsom, Auckland New Zealand as a Student from the age of 6 in 1975 till her final College year in 1987.

Sherilyn fatally collapsed during a Half Ironman event on 7th February 1988.

Immediately after the tragic death of Sherilyn White her close school and sporting friend Diana Foote (nee Irvine) decided that Sherilyn’s past school efforts and achievements should always be remembered. Consequently a Trust was established to ensure that although Sherilyn had departed her name and contribution to the school lived on. With donations from her large circle of social, sporting and school friends plus Sherilyn’s family this quickly ensured Diana’s vision was certain to be fulfilled and ensured the Trust’s perpetuallity.

The Trust is a charitable trust that is governed by its Trustees and is registered as a charitable entity under the Charities Act 2005 (registration number CC34086). Although it is run under the auspices of St Cuthbert’s College it is administered by an independent board of Trustees.

During 1989 the Trust established the Scholarship criteria and made its first financial donation to a selected student. In every subsequent year the Trust has made at least one (some years two) financial awards to selected student applicants. These have assisted the successful students to fulfill their sporting desires and ambitions plus financially assisting the establishment of other student projects.

The award is now one of the main St Cuthbert’s College Senior Sporting Scholarships available to current year 12 and 13 students.
